Reading for launch of poetry anthology

Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, 7:30 pm, at the Blaurock Café/Great Hall at Canadian Mennonite University, north campus, Winnipeg MB. Free admission.

The Mennonite Literary Society celebrates the release of its first anthology, published as a special issue of Rhubarb magazine, R40, Winter 2017, edited by Clarise Foster. The book title is 29 Mennonite PoetsPatrick Friesen will be a featured reader, joining Di Brandt from Brandon and Maurice Mierau from Winnipeg.  Books and copies of R40 will be available.


Workshop on Writing Memoir

Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, 9:00 am to 4 pm, at the Manitoba Writers’ Guild Offices, 100 Arthur St., Winnipeg MB.

Maurice will lead an all-day workshop on writing memoir. Book early (call 204.944.8013) to avoid disappointment: enrollment cap is 15 and last year there was a waiting list. Fee is $100 or $85 for MWG members.

Authors for Indies: Writers recommend their favourite books at great independent bookstores

Authors for Indies is a day when authors show their appreciation for Canadian independent bookstores. This year, local writers will be on stage reading selections from some of their long time favourites. Participating authors include Erna Buffie, Méira Cook, Anita Daher, Jeffrey John Eyamie, Ariel Gordon, Maurice Mierau, and Joan Thomas.
